Yesterday, I wrote a post for social media about HOW I am feeling about our current situation in COVID19. It was my rawest and most vulnerable post as was my selfie.
The post was my truth.
It made me feel uncomfortable posting it, but I did it anyway.
Immediately, I started getting messages from women from around the world, sharing that they too feel similar.
So many women have personally messaged me and reached out.
I have had women offering their help and support.
So much sisterly love and recognition has been received from this one post.
Even my friends contacted me and checked that I was OK.
When Social Media Is Often Good For The Soul
Social media is a powerful tool, but it can also be seen by many as triggering when they ‘see’ other people’s perfect lives.
But what social media also gives us is a platform to speak our truths, to connect with each other and to raise each other up.
I have felt nothing but SUPPORTED following posting that really rather raw post and photo.
How I Move Through My Emotions
And I wanted to follow it on with this blog and share how I have personally chosen to work through my emotions that came up for me yesterday.
First of all.
I gave myself permission to FEEL my emotions – all of them.
I felt my feelings.
And when I was ready, I decided to take some time for me (I had 60 minutes between client calls).
I listened to a visualisation.
I plugged in and drifted off.
I came back to my reality.
I made some decisions about our time in COVID19.
One of the reasons why yesterday felt particularly bad is the refusal from my son’s secondary school to give them any human contact through live video.
I looked at his timetable and told him which lessons he was dismissed from – the sheer joy on his face was amazing and the sense of liberation I felt was incredible, I wish I’d done it sooner!
After interviewing my awesome client which completely lifted my spirits, I gave myself the rest of the day off.
I sat and painted with my daughter, I binged on BBC iPlayer’s new series – NORMAL PEOPLE and I gave myself permission to not exercise.
I started to shift and change my feelings about COVID19.
And throughout the evening I read all those amazing comments and realised how important it is to connect and share your truth.
And today I am back at my desk.
I am going gently even though I have just kicked off a pre-launch offer to my email list.
I am spending the day working with my awesome clients in The 5K Club.
I have taken my daughter and the dog for a walk down the fields near our home.
I have found more time to listen to another visualisation.
I am moving forward, I am feeling grounded once again.
I want to share one of the tools I use to understand and accept and move through my feelings, which is the Abraham Hicks Emotional Guidance Scale.
This is a really great resource to Pin to your Pinterest Board or save it to your phone, so you always have access to it.
This 22 scale of emotions allows you to quickly see where you are on the scale and how to move yourself up the scale towards the feelings you want to feel.
Don’t put a brave face on.
Honour your emotions and when you are ready, take proactive steps to elevate yourself up the scale of emotions until you are feeling as awesome, as you truly are! And I’ll just leave you with my fav quotes:
